A real family's story, quoted from Trustpilot

“At risk of not being accepted into the program.” Then two straight-A semesters.

College is where executive-skill gaps stop being survivable: the structure disappears exactly when the workload doubles. This is one family's account of the turnaround, in the parent's own words.

The short version

A college junior in mechanical engineering was below the minimum core GPA to continue in his program. His parents added Coachbit: daily coach check-ins plus live 1-on-1 sessions. Per his mother's Trustpilot review, within two semesters his GPA "was not an issue", he achieved straight A's for the first time, and he now leads study sessions in his engineering fraternity.

01 · Where he started

Ability was never the question

“Before Coachbit everything seemed a struggle and he felt like he was always messing up.”

His mother's review describes a student whose ability was never the question (he'd reached a demanding engineering program) but whose core GPA had fallen below the minimum required to continue. That's the classic college pattern: the scaffolding of school (bells, teachers chasing, parents nearby) is gone, and the skills it was substituting for are suddenly due.

02 · What changed

In her words, verbatim

Rated 5 out of 5 stars on Trustpilot
“During the past year with Coachbit my son has academically achieved straight A's for the first time in his life – two semesters in a row! […] He was at risk of not being accepted into the program, his core GPA was not at the minimum required to continue in the program - enter Coachbit and within 2 semesters his GPA was not an issue and he was accepted.”

And the part that outlasts any grade:

Rated 5 out of 5 stars on Trustpilot
“Since working with Coachbit he has become the study sessions 'leader' in his Engineering fraternity and has been asked by the Engineering college to lead several recitation courses. He recently made the comment 'Spring semester' seemed almost too easy. […] if he is struggling he has tools to help get out of a mental spiral […] He still has challenges AND the difference now, he has learned new skills and tools to help meet those challenges.”

The college independence cliff, in three more reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 stars on Trustpilot
“His executive functioning skills were well supported at the elementary and secondary level, but the immediate independence in college […] was overwhelming. […] those failing grades are being replaced by confident, successful, complete, timely, accountable work. (It doesn't hurt that daily coaching sessions are set up to make sure he gets up for early classes, too!)”

Rated 5 out of 5 stars on Trustpilot
“He transferred to a larger University this year and his grades are better than they have ever been. He has gained self confidence and it's clear to us that he wants to continue to become the best version of himself!”

In a student's own words

Rated 5 out of 5 stars on Trustpilot
“As a 20 something year old student who found it difficult studying online, managing time and tasks, I wish I had found coachbit earlier. […] I now have a bed time and I wake up early every morning.”
Similo, Trustpilot, Sep 2022

Starting earlier: the bridge story

Rated 5 out of 5 stars on Trustpilot
“Our son started with Coachbit as an awkward eleventh grader […] In his first semester with Coachbit, his grades improved from B's and C's to almost all A's! With Coach Robyn's help, over time he has grown in to a calm, fairly confident college student with a plan to tackle life's daily challenges.”

04 · What was actually happening

The mechanism, not magic

Daily check-ins The external structure college removed, rebuilt at practice cadence (including getting up for early classes).
Up to five 1-on-1 sessions a week A consistent mentor planning the week before it happens.
Parent visibility Weekly reports, even with a student far from home.

05 · The honest print

Real, not typical

These are real reviews, quoted verbatim from Trustpilot; ellipses mark trimming only. Every student's pace differs: this family's visible change took about two semesters, and no outcome is guaranteed or typical. Coaching is not therapy, and Coachbit doesn't diagnose or treat any condition; students who need clinical care should have it, alongside or before coaching.

FAQ

Questions parents ask

Does coaching work for college students?

The skills coaching builds (planning, starting, tracking, follow-through) are exactly what college's independence cliff exposes. The reviews quoted here are three families' and one student's accounts of that transfer; pace and results vary by student.

How does coaching work when a student is away at college?

It's fully remote by design: short daily check-ins around the student's schedule, live 1-on-1 video sessions (up to 5 a week), and weekly parent reports home. One review credits the daily session with getting a student up for early classes.

How long does a turnaround like this take?

In Michelle's account, two semesters from below-minimum GPA to the program's requirements no longer being an issue. Other reviews describe earlier small wins (mornings, submissions) within weeks. Durable change is a semesters game, not a weeks game.

My teen is still in high school. Is it too early?

The bridge story above started in eleventh grade, and the parent's account is that college arrived with the systems already built. Earlier is easier: ages 11–21.

Is this typical?

It's real, and it isn't a promise. We publish verbatim reviews (including that visible change can take months) because that's what deciding families deserve to see.
